About the department
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2009 with an initial intake of 60, now sanctioned at 30 students. The department is equipped with well-established laboratories, classrooms and qualified faculty across various specialisations of civil engineering. The Forum of Civil Engineering (FCE) regularly conducts seminars, conferences, workshops, industrial visits and student symposiums. The department also operates a Consultancy Cell, offering third-party inspection and material testing services to government and local construction authorities, and maintains MoUs with reputed organisations.

Civil Engineering is a spinal chord of all infrastructural development from a Kutcha house to Huge Apartments and from Village road to National Highways. The Department is committed to provide Professional, Technical, Competitive and Excellent Civil Engineers to the Society.
I personally take and initiative to integrate my wide experience in Research and Teaching into practical system and the collective efforts of our faculties would make the young Engineering aspirants, who wish to make their career in the field of Civil Engineering are cordially invited to C Byregowda Institute of Technology – CBIT, Kolar. We together work for preparing our students to face the difficulties and challenge that engineering sector would offer in the future and succeed in providing technical solutions for the development of society and our nation. Many other activities like Industrial Visits, workshops and Project Exhibitions are conducted to get outer exposure. The feedback system in the interactive sessions helps in analyzing each student’s ability and opinion. In congratulate our teaching and non-teaching staff, students – Team Civil for their excellent and tremendous efforts in making the Department outstanding.

B.E. in Civil Engineering — eight semesters under the VTU scheme.
Mathematics, physics and chemistry cycles, engineering graphics, basic civil & mechanical engineering, workshop practice.
