About the department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is continuously striving to achieve academic excellence by instilling capability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, providing leadership and technical expertise. The department has well equipped work shop, machine shop and other laboratories that facilitates the students to explore the practical aspects of the various subjects and enhances their problem solving approach.
Dr. Aprameyan S, is heading the department right from its inception and he has nearly 33 years of teaching and research experience. The infrastructural facilities in the department are well augmented by highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty with diverse specialization like thermal, manufacturing, machine design, CIM, materials science, etc.,
The department is recognized as Research Centre by VTU and research scholars can pursue research leading to Doctoral degree.
The department has qualified and experienced technical support staff in all the laboratories. The students of the department are regularly taken for industrial visits to apprise them of the latest developments in the field of mechanical engineering.

Head's message
Welcome to the most versatile and exciting disciplines of engineering- Mechanical Engineering which is aptly known as Mother of All Branches.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started with an intake of 60 students in the year 2009, at the inception of the institute.
The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, fluid mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, manufacturing methods, structural analysis and design of machine elements. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product life cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, and others.
Vision
To establish as one of the leading departments to produce responsible professionals with quality teaching, training and research.
Mission
- 01To disseminate strong subject knowledge with an emphasis on practical approach.
- 02To train the students to overcome the challenges they come across in their profession.
- 03To mould the students as true citizens with ethical values.
